Investigation of aviation accident at Ski airport

On 8 May 2026, LN-FAW flew from Rakkestad Airfield to Ski Airfield. During the approach to runway 19, the aircraft came in too low and struck a road shoulder just before the runway. The aircraft flipped and ended up upside down. The pilot escaped the accident without injuries.

The pilot had flown from Kjeller to Rakkestad and practiced landing patterns. After 4 touch and go's, he made a full stop landing. The aircraft was then refueled for a planned fire watch in the afternoon. He took off from Rakkestad and flew to Ski Airport to pick up another pilot. On approach for landing on runway 19 at Ski Airport, he came in too low and corrected too late. The aircraft hit a road shoulder before the runway. The nose wheel was disengaged, the aircraft flipped and ended up on its back on the runway. The accident was observed by several witnesses who quickly arrived at the scene.
