Investigation of a collision between a tractor and a passenger train at an unsecured level crossing on the Gjøvikbanen Line
On Monday 25 August 2025, train 17401 from Vygruppen AS collided with a tractor at the Gamme level crossing on the Gjøvikbanen Line. The tractor driver was killed in the accident.
Gamme level crossing at Eina is unsecured and is located in an agricultural area. The Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority has investigated two similar accidents since 2022, and has a third one ongoing.
The NSIA will clarify the course of events and investigate possible causal factors.
The purpose of the investigation is to contribute learning that can be used in the work to improve safety and prevent railway accidents.
