Investigation of serious aviation incident at Molde Airport
During landing at Molde Airport on thursday 19 December 2024, the crew was unable to stop the aircraft on the runway. The aircraft, Norwegian LN-NIP Boeing 737-800, came to a stop partially off the runway near the seashore.
When a Norwegian flight with flight number DY430 was landing at Molde Airport in an westerly direction, the aircraft entered a snow shower at an altitude between 50 and 100 ft. After landing, the commander noticed that it was slippery and experienced poor braking. At the end of the runway, it hit a runway light before coming to a stop near the sea approximately 10 meters after the runway's asphalt edge. All passengers and crew evacuated the aircraft on the left side and there were no injuries.
