Report on aviation accident in the Oslofjord, Norway near Nordstrand brygge on 11 December 1970 with Piper PA-23-160, LN-LJO

Aviation report 1974/02

The pilot intended to fly from Fornebu, Norway to Gothenburg, Sweden together with three passengers. When the aircraft approached Vestby, the commander decided to abort the trip due to the weather conditions. During the return and near Nordstrand pier, the aircraft crashed. The pilot was lightly injured and sole survivor of the accident.

The Accident Investigation Board found a fault with the aircraft's heater which probably led to the occupants being exposed to carbon monoxide. One of the passengers was found on board the wreck, which was raised from a depth of 102 metres. According to the report, the other two passengers are still missing.
