Report on aviation accident on Nálganaš near Alta, Norway, on 7 November 1976 with Piper PA-16 Clipper, LN-BFM

LN-BFM took off from Alta Airport 7. November 1976 for a local one-hour flight. When the aircraft did not return for landing according to plan and the pilot did not respond to radio calls from Alta control tower, search and rescue was initiated. The aircraft was found on the Nálganaš mountain south-east of Alta. All three persons on board were killed. The investigation board was not able to determine the cause of the accident with certainty, however, the accident was most likely the result of an unsuccessful emergency landing triggered by the loss of engine power.
