Report on air accident at Sandane Airport, Norway, on 23 October 2016 with Scheibe Bergfalke IV, LN-GLN

During approach to the airport, on 23. October 2016, the sailplane did not reach the runway and landed in the sea. The commander, who was the sole occupant, was not injured. He was picked up by a boat. In addition to salt water damage, there was some damage to the lower fuselage. Unexpected sink, possibly in combination with a change in the approach pattern, is likely to have contributed to the sailplane landing short of the airport.
