Investigation of a serious aviation incident at Høgelifjell in Notodden

On Thursday 4 January 2024 at 19:30 a Bell 412 helicopter came in contact with two trees during landing at Høgelifjell east of Notodden. Both the helicopter's main rotors and tail rotor were damaged. No one was injured in the incident.

The crew were on a training mission in the area and there were two people on board. The Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority (NSIA) has been to the accident site to document damage to the helicopter and the landing area. No further technical examinations of the helicopter will be carried out by the NSIA. The NSIA continues to work on collecting relevant information. This involves, among other things, interview with those who have been involved both directly and indirectly.
The helicopter remained at the incident site for a few days before the Norwegian Armed Forces transported it out of the area.
