Investigation of shooting accident at Setermoen shooting and training range in Bardu municipality
The Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority (NSIA) has initiated a safety investigation into a shooting accident that occurred at the Setermoen shooting and training range in Bardu municipality, on 8 May 2025. One soldier was injured in the accident.
During a sharpshooting exercise, using small arms, a soldier was hit by a projectile. The exercise was organized by the Norwegian Armed Forces and the accident occurred at a training area at Setermoen that the Norwegian Armed Forces uses.
The injured soldier received treatment on site by colleagues and was then evacuated to hospital by air ambulance.
The investigation will clarify the sequence of events, identify safety issues and map the contributing factors to the accident. Based on this, the NSIA will assess areas for improving safety.
