Investigation of an accident involving a light all-terrain vehicle (ATV) at Blåtind shooting and training range in Målselv municipality
The Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority (NSIA) has initiated a safety investigation into an accident involving a light all-terrain vehicle (ATV) that occurred at the Blåtind shooting and training range in Målselv municipality, on September 14, 2025. One person was seriously injured in the accident.
During an exercise using an ATV, the vehicle and/or the driver hit a road barrier and overturned. The exercise was organized by the Armed Forces and the accident occurred at a training area at Blåtind that the Armed Forces use.
The driver received treatment on site by colleagues and was then evacuated to hospital by air ambulance.
The investigation will clarify the sequence of events, identify safety problems and contributing causal factors. Based on this, the NSIA will investigate areas for improving safety.
