Investigation of tram derailment at the intersection between Nygata and Storgata in Oslo
On 29 October 2024, tram 414 from Sporveien Trikken AS derailed at the intersection between Nygata and Storgata in Oslo. The tram was supposed to turn left, towards Stortorvet, but did not follow the curve and derailed the track. After the derailment, it continued straight ahead and into a shop.
The driver and four passengers were slightly to moderately injured, but no one in the shop was injured.
The investigation will clarify the sequence of events and point to possible causal relationships. Any underlying circumstances that may have contributed to the incident will be clarified and analysed.
The purpose of the investigation is to contribute with learning that can be used in the work to improve safety.
