Two people suffered minor injuries and were sent to the accident and emergency clinic after the incident. The Accident Investigation Board Norway's investigation has focused on infrastructure and training. On Monday 26 May 2014, a Bergen Light Rail vehicle and a lorry collided at the intersection between Kaigaten and Peter Motzfeldsgate in Bergen. There is limited room for big road vehicles while the light rail is passing. The intersection has no markings separating the lanes, which was a premise in the risk analysis of the planned solution.
The Accident Investigation Board Norway recommends that the Norwegian Railway Authority request that Bybanen AS document that the intersection at Kaigaten is in line with the premises that formed the basis for concluding that the risk level is within the established risk acceptance criteria.
