Report concerning air incident during approach to Oslo Airport Gardermoen on 19 December 2008 with Airbus A320-214, VP-BWH

During approach to Gardermoen, the cockpit crew of Aeroflot twice received change to active runway for landing. The last change was issued shortly before the aircraft was turned in order to intercept the localiser. In this maneuver, the commander was exposed to spatial disorientation. Prior to regaining situational awareness, the commander disconnected the autopilot and initiated a descend. There was no immenent risk of collision with the terrain before the aircraft was recovered to correct altitude.
