Notification and reporting

Ropeway accidents and serious ropeway incidents must be notified and reported to the Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority (cf. the Act relating to ropeways).

Section 9. Obligation to notify

The ropeway operator shall promptly notify the police and the investigating authority of a ropeway accident or serious ropeway incident.

The investigating authority shall notify the supervisory authority of a ropeway accident or serious ropeway incident.

Section 10. Obligation to report

The ropeway operator shall report information about ropeway accidents, serious ropeway incidents and ropeway incidents to the supervisory authority and the investigating authority.

Ropeway accidents and serious ropeway incidents must be reported in writing to the supervisory authority and the investigating authority as soon as possible and within 72 hours at the latest. Reporting shall take place using a form prescribed jointly by the supervisory authority and the investigating authority.

Ropeway incidents shall be reported to the supervisory authority within eight days. Reporting shall take place using a form prescribed by the supervisory authority.

Reporting may be by electronic means.
