Investigation of a serious avation incident during landing at Trondheim Airport
On 26 July 2025, Wideroe's flight WF1455 from Oslo (ENGM) to Trondheim (ENVA) had problems deploying the landing gear, and had to declare an emergency. The problem was resolved and the aircraft landed without further problems.
When WF1455 was approaching to land at Værnes, the crew was unable to deploy the right side landing gear.
Repeated attempts at alternative extentions were unsuccessful, and the crew declared an emergency and prepared for landing with the landing gear partially up.
During the final minutes of preparation for the emergency landing, the landing gear was deployed, and the aircraft landed without further problems.
The Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority (NSIA) has started an investigation to find the root cause, and to reduce the likelihood of similar incidents in the future.
Update 17 September 2025
The NSIA issues a preliminary report with a safety recommendation to the manufacturer De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited.

Safety recommendation
Safety recommendation Aviation no 2025/02T
During approach to land and while performing the procedure to extend the landing gear on a Dash-8-103 at Trondheim Airport Værnes (ENVA) the right main landing gear did not extend and indicated red light for unsafe condition. The cause was that the main landing gear centre door jammed the right landing gear in retracted position due to the aft hinge bearing being detached from the hinge arm.
Dash-8 100/200/300 aircraft that has not implemented Modsum IS8Q3200013 is likely to have an unsafe condition with the centre door aft hinge bearing PN. DSC-2 become detached from hinge arm housing PN. 85420016-101 or -103 and possibly jamming the main landing gear door. The NSIA recommends that the type certificate holder De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited assess the unsafe condition and take the appropriate actions to remedy it.
