Investigation of aviation incident at Ekofisk, approx. 120 NM southwest of Stavanger Airport Sola
On Tuesday 20 October 2020, the Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation S-92A, LN-OMI, operated by Bristow Norway AS was en route from Sola to Ekofisk Kilo. After approximately one hour of flying a fire warning for one engine occured. There were no other indications of a fire. The crew shut down the engine and activated both fire extiguisher bottles, but the fire alarm continued. Emergency ditching in the ocean was considered while the flight was diverted to Ekofisk Lima. The helicopter landed on the oil rig.
