Investigation of aviation accident 2 nautical miles east of Kragerø
At 1720 in the afternoon on 10 June a De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver seaplane with registration LN-NCC crashed during landing on water in the Kragerø area.
LN-NCC took off from Torp (ENTO) on Monday afternoon. The DHC-2 Beaver seaplane was equipped with both floats and retractable gear enabling operations on both water and on regular runways. The pilot was alone in the aircraft and planned to land in the archipelago near Kragerø. The wheels were out when the aircraft was on approach for landing at Rytterholmene a few kilometers east of Kragerø. When the floats hit the surface the decelleration was stronger than normal and the plane tipped over. The pilot was uninjured and got out of the aircraft on his own, and was transported to land by witnesses who came to the scene.
The Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority has initiated an investigation and two accident inspectors were at the scene of the accident the following day.
