In the Accident Investigation Board's report from 1976, it was concluded that the accident occurred as a result of the way the aircraft was maneuvered at low altitude so that it crashed into the sea. The fatal maneuver is believed to be related to the fact that the pilot was heavily influenced by alcohol.
