Investigation of fall over board accident in Laksefjorden in Finnmark
The Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority has decided to investigate the accident with the fishing vessel Ingun. During the night of the 21st of February 2025 a fisherman fell over board from the fishing vessel Ingun and died.
At 01:42 the Norwegian Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) recieved alert from an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) in Laksefjorden and a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation was initiated.
The SAR helicopter stationed at Banak reached the position of the EPIRB, but was unable to find the fishing vessel or locate the fisherman. The search area was expanded to the area where the fishing vessel previously had been and the fisherman was found deceased in the water.
The vessel was later located at a depth of approximately 20 meters in the area where the EPIRB was activated.
