Investigation of a ski lift accident in Kjerringåsen alpine centre, Sarpsborg

On Friday 12 January 2024, an employee of Kjerringåsen alpine center perished while he was carrying out maintenance work on the top station of the ski lift.

The investigation will clarify the sequence of events and point to possible causal factors. Any underlying circumstances that may have contributed to the incident will be clarified and analysed. 

The purpose of the investigation is to contribute to learning that can be used in the work to improve safety when working in ski lifts.

Status of investigation

The Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority’s investigation on ropeway accident at Kjerringåsen Alpine Centre is in its final phase and the report has been sent to the parties involved for review. After the deadline for comments, the NSIA will finalise and quality-assert the report and then publish it on our website.
