Report on marine accident - fall over board from fishing vessel Sjøkvisten, M-17-MD in Harøyfjorden on 9 May 2016

During the evening on 9 May 2016 a fisherman fell over board from fishing vessel Sjøkvisten in Harøyfjorden. The fisherman was alone on board the vessel.
In the afternoon on 9 May 2016 the fishing vessel Sjøkvisten left Midsund with one man on board. The fisherman was going to Harøyfjorden for tending his crayfish pots, which he had set out there. The fisherman fell overboard and was found dead later that night. He was not wearing floating aids or a life jacket. When he was found he had been drifting approximately four nautical miles in an east-northeasterly direction from where the accident occurred. The post mortem report indicated both older and recent heart incidents as well as signs of drowning.
