Investigation of collision between two heavy goods vehicles on the E39 Gurålivegen, Heim municipality
The Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority (NSIA) has initiated a safety investigation into the collision between two heavy goods vehicles (HGV’s) at a curve along Gurålivegen on the E39 in Heim municipality on 16 January 2024. One of the drivers died as a result of the collision.
On the morning of 16 January, two oncoming HGV‘s met in a curve on a snow-covered road. The front of one HGV collided with the trailer of the other HGV. Both HGV’s stopped partially off the road after the collision.
The investigation will clarify the sequence of events, identify safety issues and map the contributing factors to the accident. Based on this, the NSIA will assess areas for improving safety.
