Investigation of collision between a concrete truck and a van on county road 40 in Uvdal
The Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority (NSIA) has initiated a safety investigation into the collision between a concrete truck and a van on county road 40 in Nore and Uvdal municipality on 8 November 2024. The passenger in the van died in the accident.
On the morning of 8 November 2024, a concrete truck drove north on fv. 40. Approximately 7 km west of Rødberg, the concrete truck skidded and the driver lost control of the vehicle. The concrete truck collided with and rolled over the van, which was driving in the opposite direction. After the collision, the concrete truck was lying on top of the van's passenger side and across the roadway. The road surface at the accident site was not salted and was very slippery.
The investigation will clarify the sequence of events, identify safety issues and map the contributing factors to the accident. Based on this, the NSIA will assess areas for improving safety.
